Listed below are the standard terms and condition of First Edition Clothing. It is advisable to read them so that misunderstandings with regard to orders, styles, fabrics and dye lots can be averted.

New customers:
All new customers are required to pay a 50% deposit on all new orders. The deposit will be held in trust until the order is completed. The deposit amount will be then be deducted from the final invoice. TERMS ARE NOW COD FOR ALL STUDIOS AND SHOPS.

Fabrics:
Fabric weights and shades can vary from order to order. All fabrics have a different fiber composition which ultimately dictates how a garment fits. For example – the same style garment in the same size made from matt lycra and standard lycra will fit differently because standard lycra has more stretch then matt lycra. Also note that lining makes a garment fit tighter. Fabric composition is the combination of fibers which make up a textile. Cotton lycra fabric is delicate and the fabric surface can be coarse. The fabric also has a tendency to become fuzzy after a few washes.

Dye lots:
Dye lots will vary from order to order. We allow for a 5% variance in shade however, we do show leniency as the dyeing up process is fickle and is open to human error.

Styles and sizes:
Size curves do vary from style to style. Adult size garments are sized differently to children size garments. It is standard practice that adult patterns remain the same length from size small upwards. The reason for this is that height in human growth ceases at a certain age. However, the pattern does grow in width. All patterns have measurements however; most patterns do not accommodate the “long body”.

Printing and embroidery:
All printing and embroidery is outsourced. Initial set up costs such as formatting, digitizing and positives are billed to the customer. On settlement of these costs, the ownership of the artwork etc. transfers to the customer however, they are kept by us. It is important that all instructions are correctly given and that any required changes are made prior to the artwork finalization.

Orders:
Orders must be clear, concise and indicate all instructions on them. Points to remember when ordering are the following:

  1. Lining of garments
  2. Bra clips
  3. Strap lengths – this not is encouraged however; we do try and accommodated customer requests
  4. Roughing
  5. Pants lengths
  6. Arm lengths
  7. Matching garments: when ordering a garment with matching accessories for example a leotard with a chiffon skirt, we do our best to ensure that the fabrics are tonal and that the colors blend.

We do not accept orders or any instructions verbally or by SMS. Reservation of fabrics is not possible as our product demand is high and fabrics are quickly depleted. Only once an order has been placed and confirmed can we reserve fabric. Please ensure that delivery address with contact details is supplied.

Washing care labels:
Wash care instructions are there for a reason and need to be adhered too. Most Lycra type fabrics are delicate and therefore need to be treated as such. Lycra is a thin elastin fiber and is sensitive to heat and severe turbulence. It is for this reason that hand washing is recommended. Also ensure that garments are dried away from direct sunlight. Dark colors and certain shades can run in the wash.

Delivery and lead times:
Customers are liable for all delivery/transport costs. Processing and manufacturing of orders take three to four weeks. Please note that we do not hold stock and only have a stock holding of standard fabrics. Shoes and stockings are out sourced and delivery of these items is 4 weeks.

Account conduct:
Account terms are to be adhered too. Poor account conduct can negatively affect your NCA records and also the processing of future orders.

Should you have any question or suggestions, please contact us.
Thank you for your understanding.
